SPRING VALLEY – A semi tractor trailer hauling cars caused backups and a slippery mess along interstate 80 Thursday morning after it caught fire. Around 6 AM Spring Valley, Ladd, Cherry and Peru fire departments responded to a call of a trailer on fire on the westbound shoulder at the Spring Valley exit. The trailer, which was carrying six SUVs, was totally destroyed. Traffic was stopped in both directions and crews worked for four hours removing the trailer and getting ice off of the roadway.
