DWIGHT – A man in a wheelchair has died after a garage explosion in Dwight Saturday evening. According to the Grundy County Coroner’s office, 53 year-old Donald Henrich was in his garage working with an acetylene tank when what was originally reported as an explosion occurred followed by a fire. Heinrich, who was confined to a motorized wheelchair, was unable to exit the garage after falling out of his chair. In an update from the Coroner’s office, they determined he may have been changing parts of his wheelchair when the fire occurred.
Emergency personal were able to rescue him from the structure, however, he passed away after what the Coroner’s Office states was cardiac arrest. The incident remains under investigation.
