PRINCETON – The North Central Illinois Council of Governments assisted the Villages of DePue and Standard and the Cities of LaSalle and Princeton in receiving over 1.3 million dollars in Community Development Block Grant funds from Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity for public projects.
DePue will use $288,104 to replace a water booster station on Princeton Street. The new booster station will contain two pumps and a backup generator in a new building.
LaSalle will use $500,000 to separate storm sewer flows from the sanitary/combined sewer system.  This separation will lessen the amount of rainwater that is treated at the wastewater treatment plant and minimize the frequency of combined sewer over flows caused by heavy rains. The city will provide a match of $534,916. The total project cost is $1,034,916.00
The City of Princeton will use $500,000 in funds to replace sanitary sewer lines in the alleys between the streets of Main and Pleasant from Putnam to Warren, and between Pleasant and First from Putnam to E Clark.  The lines are falling apart, collapsing, and in very poor condition in numerous locations.  The city will provide a match of $337,548.  The total project cost is $837,548.
Standard will use $81,500 to construct a new automated duplex storm water pumping station to replace a manually operated station located at 5th and Taft Streets.  The pump station will operate automatically, will be located in a safer location and have provisions for easy access to remove and install pumps for maintenance purposes.
