KIRKLAND – An Ogle County man is dead after an incident in rural Kirkland involving a boom lift and power lines. The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office reports that Tuesday afternoon they were called to Old State Road near Malta Road for a man injured by power lines. The deceased, identified as 36-year-old Luke T Carmichael of Kings, was allegedly operating a boom lift on the back of a semi tractor trailer to raise power lines for another truck transporting a grain bin. The power line reportedly then came into contact with the lift he was operating. Carmichael was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is still under investigation by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office and the DeKalb County Coroner’s Office.
