SPRING VALLEY – Spring Valley is expected to authorize the hiring of a part-time firefighter after a lack thereof since the beginning of the year. Talks of hiring on paid day time firemen began back in January after Chief Bogatitus said volunteers were unable to leave their day time job to respond to emergency calls. In May, the city allowed Chief Bogatitus to follow through with perusing a certified firemen as well as creating means of more revenue for the department like fining for false alarms. The city council will meet to discuss the matter Monday night at city hall.
