SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Public Health reports 2,806 new coronavirus cases reported to the agency in the past 24 hours. The state reports 23 additional covid related deaths as well, This comes one day after over 5,000 new cases of the virus were reported on Friday, with the higher than usual totals due to a backlog of tests that finally made its way through the state’s system.
