LELAND – The Leland Police Department are looking for a person of interest that they say assaulted a store employee in the 100 block of North Main Street on Sunday. They say around 10:30 PM a man allegedly punched the victim with an unknown object after the victim asked to see the individuals ID while they were attempting to purchase packaged liquor and other items. The suspect was described as a Black male, 17-21 years old, approximately 6’0″, 180 lbs, glasses, wearing a black face mask and a grey hooded sweatshirt. The victim was taken to an area hospital. An update on their condition was not available. Leland police are asking anyone with any additional information on this incident to contact them directly.
