OGLESBY – The city of Oglesby gained a new police officer. Michael Rivara was sworn in by Oglesby City Council on Monday. 23-year-old Rivara is an Oglesby native who worked as a dispatcher for Illinois Valley Regional Dispatch. He will begin police academy training in January. Chief Doug Hayse says currently there are nine full-time officers and 12 part-timers at the department. Hayse is looking to fill more part-time positions.
