Free boating safety classes to be offered at Illinois Waterway Visitor Center

OTTAWA – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will offer free safe boating classes at the Illinois Waterway Visitor Center. The classes are open to everyone age 11 and older. Students under age 16 should be accompanied by an adult and pre-registration is required. Upon successful completion of the class and exam, participants will receive an Illinois DNR Boat Safety Certification. All boaters, including those new to boating as well as seasoned individuals looking to brush up on safe boating knowledge, are encouraged to take the course. The classes will be held from 9 AM to 5 PM on June 17, July 15, and August 19.
