MORRIS – An Illinois State Senator has launched a drive to collect Valentine’s Day cards for seniors in long term care facilities. Senator Sue Rezin of Morris is encouraging churches, schools, and community members of the 38th Senate District to write Valentine’s Day cards that can be dropped off or mailed to her district offices. Once all the cards have been collected, they will be delivered to the various long-term care facilities that make up the district. The collection of the cards will run through Wednesday, February 10. Those wishing to participate will have the option to either mail their card or drop it off at either her Peru or Morris office.
“This past year has been an extremely difficult time for everyone, but it has been especially difficult for those who live in our local senior homes,” said Sen. Rezin. “For their own safety, the residents of these homes have had very little contact with their families and friends which has unfortunately left many of them feeling isolated and alone.”
“Delivering these cards to the residents of these facilities is the least that we can do considering everything that they have had to go through because of COVID-19,” said Sen. Rezin. “I just want to ensure that they know that people care and are thinking about them, and that they are not alone.”
