PEORIA – A man has been arrested in connection with the death of a Peoria woman whose body was found Thursday. According to the Peoria Police Department, 42-year-old Christopher J. Sanders has been arrested for First Degree Murder in the death of 50-year-old Mona R. Ellison. On Thursday, detectives located a body, later identified as Ellison, in the 100 block of Woodrow Drive in East Peoria. Police say, during the course of the investigation they developed information that led to the identification of Sanders. According to authorities, detectives had reason to believe Sanders left Peoria and possibly headed to the greater St Louis area. Later on Thursday, detectives were notified Sanders was taken into custody in New Baden, Illinois. Sanders was transported back to the Peoria Police Department where he was subsequently arrested for First Degree Murder and transported to the Peoria County Jail.
