LASALLE – LaSalle City Councilmen discussed residents’ complaints with garbage collection at Monday night’s city council meeting. Jim Pozzi, of Republic Services, represented the waste removal service and explained to residents and aldermen that many residents call the city to complain that their garbage has not been picked up before the trucks have actually completed their routes. In addition, he noted that the trucks only make right-hand turns, so residents need not worry if only one side of the street is picked up at a time. Several aldermen, however, explained that they had never received so many complaints in the years before the city signed a contract with Republic Service, and that they feel the company is not properly doing its job.
