STREATOR – Streator Township High School’s district will be getting more funding due to a higher property tax base. At Tuesday night’s board meeting, Superintendent Dr. Matt Seaton reported that projections of a 4% increase in property tax value has remained.
According to Dr. Seaton, because the district has bond proceeds in their health life and safety funds, they are unable to levy for additional dollars until the proceeds are used. At the same time, he says because of the increase in the EAV, the district can receive more money while reducing the tax rate by 6.9 cents. The district is asking for $200,000 more than they did last year.
