CHICAGO – Governor J.B. Pritzker says while this is “not a signal the battle is over,” Illinois can proceed to phase 4 in its reopening plan. At a press briefing from Chicago, the governor said that under phase 4, movie theaters, fitness centers, gyms, and restaurants can open with limits. The governor reiterated that the case count, hospital data, and death rate will be closely monitored, and that “unlike other states,” the state government will take action if the state relapses in its coronavirus battle. At the briefing, the Illinois Department of Public Health announced 894 new cases, the most since June 6th, and 41 new deaths. Also on Thursday afternoon, the LaSalle County Health Department reported four new confirmed cases, which consist of two women in their 20’s, a woman in her 60’s, and a man in his 60’s.
