SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Director of Veterans Affairs is stepping down. Governor J.B. Pritzker announced the news on Monday that Linda Chapa LaVia will no longer serve as Director. LaVia says it has been an honor and privilege to serve veterans. Major General Peter Nezamis will serve as interim. Pritzker will name a permanent director following a nationwide search.
