ROCK FALLS – A rare sighting of an Armadillo in northern Illinois happened in Rock Falls Saturday night. The Rock Falls Police Department said it was one of the strangest animal related service calls they could remember. The Armadillo was spotted near the Rock River, and after spending some time hiding under a vehicle, apparently returned to the river bank. Experts say it is rare for one to be this far north, as they can’t survive a winter without running water and nights above 28 degrees.
